Dear Friends of Esperanza
We are at the end of 2011, the end of a year of great challenges in which has strengthened and propelled Esperanza to make changes at many levels with our eyes on a future of hope for justice and solidarity.
Our hearts are full of gratitude for the support and help of all the volunteer, program alumni, benefactors and friends who have demonstrated their commitment to the families of Tijuana and Oaxaca. Working with them toward the dream of improving lives through dignified homes.
On a personal level, I would like to thank all of you for the solidarity I have experienced throughout the past 11 years in which I have had the privilege to be the director of FEM. I have met incredible people that have taught me the true significant of social justice, friendship and above all that service to others transforms us to be better people. I leave the organization with the confidence that Esperanza will always be supported by a committed staff that is proud of their work, board members that support the organization with their time and experience and volunteers who offer their hearts and hands to build dreams and, above all, the families of the communities that have been my inspiration and example of how to work with such joy to improve their lives each and every day.
I’d like to share that the board will be taking some time to find a new director of Esperanza and temporarily have chosen Monica Fragoso-Peralta, a member of the board to serve as the interim director. She is an architect, who lives along the border of Tijuana- San Diego and has a global vision of the cultures of both countries. Monica comes from a family from Tijuana and also studied in Califonia. Together with Rene Peralta, the two work on urban architectural projects with Generica, an architectural company of Mexico. We are excited Monica has agreed to this position and we welcome her to the Esperanza team.
Many thanks to all of you and God’s blessings,
Josefina Pataky
