Great blog Kelsey! I think you must have forgot to put in the part about the really inspiring Long-Term Volunteer you worked with during those two weeks. Must have been cut off accidentally or something like that.

In all seriousness though, thanks to you and Luke and Lucas for spending two weeks with us. It was a great time.

A bit more history:
I was the first paid employee of "Esperanza Consulting Foundation" in 1989. I was called the Foundation Administrator. Within a year, Steve Feher and Alfonso Ortiz were hired. In 1992, we formed Esperanza Housing and Community Development and the parent organization Esperanze Consulting Inc. became Esperanza International.
The Mexican operation was organizaed into Esperanza de Mexico so that our Mexican colleagues could become more autonomous and empowered. During this time, Phillipe Gagne was hired to assist with administration and a few years later to become the first Executive Director.

I can't tell you how much it pleases me to see how committed the people at Esperanza have been over the years. John Howard, Bob Morris and Al Graff have built a wonderful legacy. I am very proud to have been involved in the growth of this organization.

My best wishes for your continued success,
Pat (Schrader) Freitas

Here is a link to the online reservation form for the dinner.
https://sites.google.com/a/esperanzaint.org/esperanza-benefit-dinner
Don't miss this dinner. Should be fascinating, fun and uplifting.
Remember all those who need our support. It's our chance to do something when we can't be there to build. If you can't go to the dinner then consider making a donation. Follow the link above to make a donation in support of the work of the Esperanza Dinner.

I have participated in 8 mission trips to Tijuana over the last 10 years. Our group from Berlin Heights and Wooster Ohio is usually the first group of the year. Over the years we have brought many families to Tijuana, to help Esperanza families build a better life. One of our most cherished experiences, is to visit or work with families that we know from previous years.

From the start of your service as a volunteer, I could tell that you would do well during your year. It was good working with you and helping you to get started. I'm sure that you will do well in whatever you choose to do.
